PLDT speed for its 990 plan. Not my connection though. Just an example of how PLDT myDSL sucks

Time and time again PLDT myDSL has proven that it cannot really deliver what it promises.  What we see in the commercials from radio to tv to newspapers to pamphlets are nothing but over hyping to lure more unsuspecting consumers into their myDSL subscription.  Take my subscription as an example… I went for the Plan 1299. It’s supposed to reach speeds of UP TO 756kbps. I took into consideration the “UP TO” in their commercials.  This gives them an escape clause if ever their promises fail.  The problem is that they fail always.. miserably.  Often I get only speeds of 256kbps to 384kbps.  That’s just like going for the myDSL 990 plan.

They also have a customer hotline “172″ which is really just a front. All they can tell you really is how to restart your modem and computer.  If their “restart” solution fails then they’ll tell you its a line problem and to wait “X” hours and try again. Tsk! Tsk! Tsk!
Last Sunday (the day Pacquiao punished Cotto), was another example of myPLDT DSL WatchCrap… err.  Watchpad  failure.  PLDT promised their subscribers a free live streaming of the fight to all subscribers.  But was I able to watch the fight?  Sh*t NO!!! I called 172 and here’s an excerpt of the conversation.

(after 27 minutes of putting the phone on speakers and listening to crap…)

PLDT: Good morning Sir.  How may i help you. (*ubo ubo)
ME: Bossing medyo wala iyong advertised ng PLDT na fight ni Pacquiao sa WatchPad.
PLDT: Sir ano pong number ninyo? At sino po ang subscriber?
ME: *secret* *secret*
PLDT: Ok Sir. Ganyan po talga ang watchpad. Mabagal kasi bago pa lang iyan.
ME: Ha? Eh ba’t nakalagay sa mga advertisment na merong live streaming nubng laban.
PLDT: Sir technical lang po kami hindi sa Marketing.
ME: Ganun ba. Ok. Salamat.
PLDT: (*ubo ubo) Have a good day Sir.

GOOD DAY? Iba talaga ang PLDT.  Of course, PLDT really never cares about their little subscribers.  Their service is after all about money. Just imagine the hundreds of people subscribing with a lock-in period and not getting what they paid for.  Once a viable alternative appears here in South Cotabato, I’ll be the first one to jump ship.  But for now I’ll bear this cross…
